‘….for art must be made secretly, in quiet places ….’
Salman Rushdie, in The Ground Beneath her Feet (2000)

Born in  Amsterdam, I was  introduced at  a very  young  age, to museums  and galleries by my grandfather.
Early exposure to such artists as Rembrandt, Vermeer, Miro, van Gogh and Mondriaan developed my passion for painting.

I have  lived in Britain for  many years and  initially  studied  painting  and  drawing  at  the  City Literature Institute, London. I subsequently trained in the Practice and Theory of Visual Art, obtaining a BA Honours from Chelsea College of Art and Design, London.

I divide my time between one of the unique Stable Block Studios in beautiful Oaks Park, situated on the edge of Sutton and Banstead and an isolated work space in rural South West France. In addition to pursuing personal concerns in my paintings, I also undertake commissions and I have created work for private clients both in the UK and abroad. In addition,  I have a special interest in making work in response to a particular location, such as the Brixton Lido, or Tentazioni, a trendy restaurant in London’s Docklands area.

I am a founder member of the Seam group of artists, showing our work in South London and France. I am also taking part in the recently launched South London Women Artists Group.
